Thinking of all bereaved parents and families today and sending you our love. We will be lighting a candle at 7pm to remember your beautiful babies, taken too soon. #waveoflight #BabyLossAwarenessWeek.

We recognise how hard it can be to know what to say to people who have lost a baby, whether to miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or in the early neonatal period. It may feel easier to say nothing rather than say the wrong thing – but talking to bereaved parents about their baby (if and when they’re ready) can help them feel less alone.

@sandscharity support bereaved parents and families – and are there to help you if you have lost a baby. Their website is http://www.sands.org.uk/ . They recommend the following conversation starters:

🕯 How are you feeling today?

💜 Have you named your baby? I’d love to know their name.

🕯 I’d love to hear about your baby if you’d like to tell me.

💜 If you have a photo of your baby, I’d love to see if you’re happy to share it with me.

🕯 I’m always happy to listen if you need to talk.
